The Jamaica NAACP Day Care Center is a 501 (c) (3) private not or profit tax exempt organization founded in 1970. We are the first Early Childhood center to provide child care services to the members of the Jamaica NAACP branch. We provide day care to the historically black community of St. Albans, home of Count Bassie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne, not to mention the “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown. We are licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The teachers are New York State Certified Teachers in Early Childhood Education and/ Special Education. The center’s hours are from 8 am to 6 pm. We prepare a nutritious home made meal daily. Breakfast, lunch and snack are free. We provide quality child care on a sliding scale, based on parent income to Administration for Children’s Services parents who qualify under their guidelines. We provide age appropriate curriculum in a nurturing environment utilizing the Creative Curriculum for children from 2 ½ years to 6 years of age. We offer a NYC Department of Education sponsored program, the Universal Prekindergarten for four year olds. Our diverse staff integrates their Multi-ethnic and Multi- cultural background into the curriculum in an authentic and meaningful way. |
